What is Important in Your Decision Sign Up for a Merchant Circle Marketing Advisor?
There are many Marketing Advisors here on Merchant Circle. Some use the ethics and guidelines of the program to help and assist new and fellow merchants enhance their web pages to receive more Search Engine Optimization, and increase their Search Engine Marketing campaigns. Others, are concerned with the promotion of themselves and their business, beyond what is the true association with the Power of Merchant Circle can do for you and your business.
As a Market Advisor, I am concerned on how your business can see the "Proof in the Pudding" on your Return on Investment in signing up with Merchant Circles great products. Ethics is important in any sales process and even though I receive an incentive if your business buys a product, the real question ..IS BY PURCHASING THE PRODUCT, WILL IT FIT YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS?
For instance, does your business needs national exposure or is your business locally based and most of your customers find you from a particular geographic region? Are you seeking high quality hits (i.e. more opportunity to gain addition business by your search engine hits), to gain a presence on the web (i.e. the business has little to no web presence at all and you need have a need to change this as soon as possible) or can your web marketing campaign fit into your budgetary guidelines (i.e. your business has a small marketing budget and want to know if the program can be tailored to what is needed for the least cost as possible)?
If your Marketing Advisor is working for you and not themselves, the questions above is what your marketing advisor should be asking you. I had a recent discussion with another Merchant Circle business that had a "Marketing Advisor" sign them up for a package that contained less features than the previous package they were using. Is this an example of the Marketing Advisor working for you or your best business needs? Probably not.
There are other examples of advisors pushing newer merchants, who know little on what being associated with the Power of Merchant Circle can do for their business, their personal business products on them while hiding behind the "Advisor" title and position. Again, I ask, is this behavior working for you or your business needs? Nope, not again.
Why Should I Sign Up With You to Experience The POWER OF MERCHANT CIRCLE?
That is me over to the left. It is always best to do business with a person that is willing to put a face to a name. I am also a small business owner in the Southeastern Michigan market. Upon opening my franchise in June of 2008, I was searching for a solution to increase my business presence in cyberspace. I had tried Google Ad-Words and had little success for the money that I invested. So, I started researching my options and came upon the Merchant Circle Website.
With all new ventures I engage within, I had to do my research. In these difficult economic times, money spend on almost anything must be worth that effort in results. So, what I decided to do was sign up, on my own, with Merchant Circle for a FREE package. I figured at the very least, by taking the free option, I was not losing for my business, regardless.
I love to blog and write about my adventures in running my business. I had a blog started called Adventures in Cleaning and Other Life Events were I discussed my thoughts on operating my business and my life in general. Since, adding a blog here on Merchant Circle another free option for businesses, I decided to add content from my personal blog to my Merchant Circle page. This is were it all began.
From there, I have a newsletter that I send out to about 200 and growing contacts that I meet at various networking/social events, my current/former customers and others across the World Wide Web that follow my personal blog. Then I learned at Merchant Circle, I could add my most important 100 or so contacts and sent them some additional information (coupons, updates, etc) that are usually not included in my newsletter (due to length) on a additional newsletter with Merchant Circle. This allowed me to add a additional form of communication with my important outside of Merchant Circle contacts and introduce them to Merchant Circle, in the same aspect.
Next, I realized the Power of Creating Quality "My Network" Contacts. What is "My Network" you ask? Other Merchant Circle members that are willing to connect with you. The advantage for your business, you can add comments on their "Talk to Me" page that are in most cases immediately responded too. You can add a advertisement, blog posting or coupon on their bulletin board page, you call them to chat about ideas that can help your business (what is better than a national mentoring network) or you can add them as a favorite contractor, food service spot, entertainment venue or other on the "Talk of the Town" page that their business is located. It was like a linked in for fellow small business owners to the eleven level!!
By linking to other businesses, I learned that search engines such as Google and Yahoo love content!! When you create the blogs, "Talk to Me" comments, postings and reviews of other businesses...guess what happens? Your business Merchant Circle hits increase!! Its' like Paying it Forward and now that you have this great resource for other small business owners, you have to share it with others.
Then, on a effort to increase my association with the Power of Merchant Circle, once I saw the "Proof in the Pudding" my heart was sold. Next, I signed up for a Verified Business Badge, were three to five customers and/or businesses you had associations with, verifies your business (increased my hits on my Merchant Circle web page by 20%), then I added more cities for my customers can find me in other areas of S.E. Michigan (increased my hits by another 15%), next I had to add a paid SEO/SEM marketing package with Merchant Circle (increased by hits 30%) and finally, I became very active in the Merchant Circle Forums. Eventually, I was asked to become one of the five respected Merchant Circle Forum Moderators out of 670,000 merchants across the United States. Other Merchant Circle Forum Moderators and Small Business Owners include Lindy Amimus, Rick Cook, Ken Hapel and Kathleen at-A Tile Nation.
I went from an average of 100 Merchant Circle web page hits in 30 days to 800 hits within a three month period by blogging, adding coupons, creating advertisements/newsletters, adding fellow merchants my network and posting threads on the forums. I was in the 3-5 spots on the FIRST PAGE OF GOOGLE for my small business operations and number 7-10 for the Yahoo Search engine.

We Made the Wall Street Journal thanks to Merchant Circle!!!
Hello Everyone,
We wanted to share with you our excitement over our recent article in the Wall Street Journal. First, the WSJ is the Prima Donna of all Business Newspapers across the nation. For our business to be mentioned in the journal was a gift that ServiceMaster Building Services will treasure forever. We hope that we can be honored to make it within the Wall Street Journal again in the future.
Second, we have to thank MerchantCircle and particularly Kevin Leu-The Director of Community Relations at MerchantCircle for suggesting to WSJ Reporter Pui-Wing Tam that we could contribute to the article on "Out of Office: Job Loss in the Age of Blogs and Twitter" published in the Tuesday, February 3, 2009, edition on page A11.
Mr. Leu recommeneded ServiceMaster Building Services owner-Monica Ross-Williams- for this article after noticing her contribution on the MerchantCircle Forums, were we are one of the five forum moderators, connecting with over 670,000 businesses across the country.
